ABOUT US
David Hernandez DDS and Julie Martinez DDS are a husband and wife dentist team that opened their private practice together on July 1st, 1991 and have been serving their community ever since. Our office treats patients of all ages; Dr. Martinez cares for our pediatric patients while Dr. Hernandez works with the adults.
Our office provides a calm, clean, friendly atmosphere for you and your entire family during your dental care. We provide all types of dental treatment including, but not limited to frenotomies, routine dental exams and cleanings, CBCT radiography, alginate-free impressions, deep cleanings, fillings, injection-free laser dentistry, extractions, crowns, stainless steel crowns, root canal treatments, pulpotomies, dentures, veneers, and more.
Dr. Hernandez and Dr. Martinez know that the quality of care delivered to our patients is of upmost importance and that is why they take their continuing education very seriously. Our office was one of the first in the area to employ laser dentistry and digital radiography, and we strive to continue to introduce the newest and best technology into our practice for our patients. We recently added a CBCT machine into our practice as well as a Trios digital scanner; these new technologies will help us better serve our patients and their dental needs.
We have recently introduced our daughter Catherine Walker DDS to the family practice, and we hope you will also join our family for your loved one's dental care.
OUR SERVICES
Routine Exams and Cleanings
Our three providers perform bi-annual exams and cleanings on our patients dentition. We currently are using a Trios scanner which can provide our patients with alginate-free impressions. Our office also offers CBCT radiography to help with root canal and implant treatment planning, airway assessment and more. We are currently accepting new patients of all types.
Pediatric Dental Care
Dr. Martinez is the pediatric dentist of our practice. She treats patients as young as one day old through adolescence. She provides all kinds of treatment for her patients including but not limited to frenotomies, bi-annual exams and cleanings, fillings, pulpotomies, stainless steel crowns, extractions, space maintainers, and airway assessment for children. She provides injection free laser dentistry to patients that are eligible.
Frenotomies
Ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) of maxillary and mandibular frenula can adversely affect infant latch and milk transfer as well as cause significant pain to the nursing mother. Tongue ties can also cause speech problems in the future. Dr. Martinez performs assessment and treatment of ankyloglossia in patients as young as one day old. If treatment is indicated, an Erbium laser is used for the frenotomy procedure. Dr. Martinez has been performing frenotomy procedures with the Waterlase since 2004, around 480 procedures a year. Note that assessment and treatment may take up to two hours including post-op therapy instructions.
Laser Dentistry
Our office has two Erbium Waterlase lasers (Biolase Waterlase and Waterlase MD) and all three of our doctors are trained and certified to perform laser dentistry. Laser dentistry can provide anesthesia free fillings depending on the depth of the cavity. Lasers can also provide faster, more esthetic, less painful, and cleaner healing when performing soft tissue operations including, but not limited to, frenotomies, biopsies, "canker sore" treatment, or esthetic gingival recontouring.
Dentures & Veneers
Dr. Hernandez and Dr. Walker provide all types of prosthodontic treatment including traditional crowns, dentures, removal partial dentures, implant crown restorations, bridges, and veneers. We can deliver no preparation veneers or traditional veneers to our patients.
Emergency Dentistry
Our office has a provider on call for patients of record who can be reached through our after hours number for dental emergencies . We treat emergencies of all kinds including dental trauma and dental pain.
Teeth Whitening
Chairside teeth whitening is available to our patients as well as take home whitening kits with custom made trays. Research has shown that combining these two treatments will provide maximum whitening results. Our office also performs enamel microabrasion which is a procedure that helps reduce the appearance of "white spots" left after orthodontic treatment.

Dr. Julie Martinez
Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Julie A. Martinez graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a BA in Biology in 1984. She received her DDS from University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston in 1988. She completed a Pediatric Residency program at James Whitcomb Riley Hospital for Children at IUPUI in Indianapolis Indiana in 1990. She is a United Cerebral Palsy Foundation Fellow as of 1991 at IUPUI and had clinical and didactic teaching responsibilities including IUSD undergraduate dental students and Ball State speech pathology students. She was a clinical assistant professor at UTDB Houston from 1991 to 1995. She has worked in private practice with her husband Dr. David Hernandez since 1991. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She and her husband, Dr. Hernandez, reside in The Woodlands, Texas and they have three children.

Dr. David Hernandez is native Houstonian and a proud ninth generation Texan. He attended and graduated from the University of St. Thomas in December of 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. He completed his doctorate at University of Texas Dental Branch Houston in 1988. He lived in Indianapolis from 1988 to 1991 and worked in private practice. He was a clinical researcher at the Oral Health Research Institute under the direction of Dr. George Stookey and Dr. Brad Beiswanger where he developed a plaque pH instrument for clinical real time measurements. He is a co-author of Effect of chewing gums on Plaque pH after a Sucrose Challenge. He has been in private practice with his wife Dr. Julie Ann Martinez since 1991 and is mentoring his two sons Daniel Hernandez DDS and Jonathan Hernandez DDS who are practicing dentists in the Midland and Corpus Christi areas, respectively.
Dr. Catherine Walker

Dr. Catherine Walker is the daughter of Dr. Julie Martinez and Dr. David Hernandez. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Texas A&M University in December of 2013. WHOOP! During her time at Texas A&M, she completed the Undergraduate Research Scholar program, and is a published co-author in a peer-reviewed research paper: IFT57 stabilizes assembled intraflagellar transport complex and mediates transport of motility-related flagellar cargo. She attended the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental School and graduated in May of 2018 with research and teaching honors distinctions. She, her husband, and their beautiful baby boy Anthony reside in Magnolia, Texas.
